A Royal Honour at Birmingham Childrens Hospital

5/2/2008

Crest Marquees was entrusted with the prestigious honor of providing a fully lined marquee for the grand opening of the new Birmingham Children's Hospital burn unit and was attended by none other than prince Edward, who was there on the day to open the new Burns unit.

We did not get the honor of meeting with royalty on the day however we were pleased that we were responsible for keeping everyone safe and dry on the day and it was a great pleasure contributing to such a fantastic new ward at one of the most prestigious childrens hospitals in the world.

Pretty in pink at Aylesbury House

12th January 2008

Baton down the hatches its gonna be a wet and windy one!  It was wet and very windy when we erected the marquee and on break down, but by a stroke of luck the wedding day was fine and dry.  The marquee was set up on the front lawn of Aylesbury House, Hockley Heath.  The main house was built in 1610 and is a great loaction for a marquee wedding.  For further information about this location, please contact us.

Black and white wedding day theme

1st December 2007

Black carpet, white linings, black seat pads, white table linen and not forgeting the black and white dance floor.  The wedding theme for this winter wonderland was of course black and white.  In the centre of each of the tables stood a photo of a star from the silver screen, in the days of black and white.  Stars such as Laurel and Hardy and Judy Garland.

Marquee by candle light...How romantic!

Whilst the HOST sang and his son played the piano, a relaxed atmosphere was created by dimming those chandeliers and iluminating the marquee by candle light.

How romantic.  The song, dedicated to his wife was Once, twice, three times a lady...

Marquee enters 'Division' 1

5th August 2007

There were two unusual aspects to this event that stood it apart from most others. The first unusual aspect was that the marquee was situated on a football pitch (at a Muslim University), with the second being a 'division' of guests. The clients specific requirements were that the ladies were to be seated on the left and the gents on the right with a complete division down the centre of the marquee (see 3D plan).

The marquee/s looked stunning with the client completely happy with the finished results.

A hole in one for Crest Marquees Ltd

We were pleased to provide a marquee over two consecutive weekends at Harborne Golf Club.  This size marquee will seat around 50 guests at one time.  We positioned the marquee next to the club house allowing the guests to comfortably walk between the two.

It offered the prospective couple a stunning view over the course and greens.

A perfect wedding day

28th July 2007

It was the first time we have ever erected a marquee on a horse menage.  The menage quickly absorbed the water and drained it efficiently.

The marquee had been designed around the size of the menage.  As the menage was narrow but long we added a separate bar area and a spacious nice reception area.  Matching Sofas, arm chairs and coffee tables were placed around the reception area to create a comfortable retreat.

Our client was was kind enough to send us this message.

"We would just like to say a very big thank you for making our wedding day more special than we could ever have imagined. Once it was finished the marquee took our breath away and had the same effect on all of our guests.

You and your team really did exceed all our expectations. We expected the marquee to look good but it didn't, it looked absolutely amazing.

All the final touches that you suggested really helped from the beautiful sofa's in the reception areas to the starlight roofing. We couldn't have been any happier with the finished product. The quality of your equipment /furnishings was superb.

You have thoroughly spoilt us and I don't think our families will ever have room hire again. So thank you again, we will and I'm sure all our guests will continue to talk about your marquee for a long time yet and will happily recommend you to everyone we speak to".

"a fantastic occasion"

christenings outside

With the help of the weather the party went smoothly.  It's a good job the christening had been on that particular day as every other day leading up to it had been wet.  And boy did we get wet !

This is what our client kindly sent us

" Dear Matthew, just to say a big thank you to you and your guys for helping to make Fabian's Christening such a fantastic occasionThe marquee looked amazing and you were all so helpful, enthusiastic and 100% reliable.  You definately went that extra mile for us.  I would definately use you again and recommend you to all our friends.  Thanks for being a pleasure to deal with..."

Comet treat staff...again!

22nd June 2007.

marquee with artifical grass

Once again Comet PLC chooses Crest over the competition.

The main purpuse of the event was to thank the many long serving staff that have worked so hard over the years.

For entertainment a Jazz band played whilst guests were treated to the company of a magician (Chris Priest) and a caricaturist (Alfie Deliss).

The theme once again was 'garden party' so artifical grass was carefully laid to provide an unusual and interesting floor covering.

Happy birthday Huf UK

10th June 2007.

happy birthday Huf

Huf UK celebrates 25 years of havings its UK operation open.  To celebrate, they treated everyone to a big birhday party for all the employees and their family.

It is a shame all 4,500 employees couldn't make it, but they would have had to come from 12 different countries!

Over 1000 guests attended with lots of activities for the family including displays from the fire bridgade.

Poolroom dancing

3rd February 2007.

This was a first for us at Crest, an underwater disco!.  No, of course I'm only joking, but we were asked to lay our Wooden boarded floor on top of a tiled swimming pool, then add new carpet, then add our dance floor.  Just to ensure there we no cracked tiles we also added an additional layer of carpet between the tiles and the wooden floor.

Crest Wow Comet PLC

27th September 2006.

 Comet PLC

We were very pleased to be awarded the 'Long service award   ceremony' contract on behalf of Speakeasy Productions and their client Comet Group.

We also employed the latest 3D planning software to get the perfect job done right!  This photo was taken at the Comet super store on the Sears retail park in Shirley, Solihull.

 Stage in marquee

We started loading our lorry at 6am and by 8.30am we were their and ready to start.  At 9.30pm we'd finished.  The following day was the event and by 4pm it had all finished and we could start to
dismantle the structure.  We finally arrived back at our warehouse at 12am and finished unloading at 2pm. - Wow what a shift!!

A few shoppers thought we were laying it out for them - to their disappointment!  Well Mrs Cook from Hall Green, Birmingham if your garden is over 100ft we'd be happy to deliver!

Our 3D software allows us to produce a detailed plan from just about any angle you could imagine.  This software really became useful when dealing with the event management company in Scotland.  We would make the amendments and email them over to Speakeasy who could in turn send the images to Comet PLC for approval.  Simple really.  But you don't have to be a large multinational company to benefit for this service - We do this for every customer!!!  So should you need a walkway or a large party marquee, leave it to us.  We build in the tables, chairs, dance floor, stage, entrance way, heaters - even plates on the tables if you wants us to!

Our source tells us Comet Group MD, said 'It is one of the nicest marquees I have ever been in'.  We were of course, overjoyed to hear this, and will be vying for the 2007 contract!

Guests were impressed and the night proceeded splendidly.  I'm not sure a week was long enough to get  over the celebrations though, the result says it all

When swans attack...

We eventually completed the marquee (no thanks to those pesky swans)  It wasn't the swans that were a problem, but actually Rob on the erection crew.  Rob was so scared that just one look from one of these beauties and he had to have a lie down!  Still never mind, with the local ice cream van 20ft away, I managed to keep everyone happy!
